Summer Wraps

The most popular item selling at the artisans market this summer are my open lace pattern wraps that can be worn in a variety of different ways. I have been using a silk/rayon blend ribbon yarn and a polyamide yarn with lots of texture. I designed these wraps to be a multi-functional addition to a women's wardrobe. They can be worn as wraps or scarves. That seems to be a popular selling point.

Summer Trends for handknits

It has always been challenging for me to sell my handknits and handwovens during the summer months. I have focused so much of my efforts on my winter line that summer pieces were not a priority. This year I have created a line of wraps that can also be used as scarves and scarves that can also be used as wraps. I have done pretty well selling them at my local artisan's market. I would love to hear from others what has worked for them as I am always looking for ways to increase and improve my business.

Support for Local Artisans

A growing number of consumers are seeking hand-made artisan created products from local artists. There are a number of reasons for this trend, one being sustainability. When products are made and sold locally there is less stress on the environment, less shipping, less gas used, etc...which keeps costs of goods at a reasonable price and supports the local economy. The consumer gets to enjoy hand-made products which may be one-of-a-kind or at the very least unique to the artist. Whether it be artisan created hand-knits, locally grown produce or manufactured goods--support your local economy!

Happy New Year to all!

This has been a great season for handknit and handwoven scarves and wraps. Dreamweaving Designs had a great holiday season. This year we featured handwoven scarves with lots of texture. Our warp yarns included multi-colored ribbon, some sparkle and metallic. Our weft yarns had lots of fur and texture. These unique one of a kind scarves continue to sell into the New Year. Capelets were very popular Christmas gifts this season. Dreamweaving Designs made handknit chunky cable capelets with Cascade Magnum yarn. These capelets are warm and can be worn with jeans or a dress. Our handknit furz capelets were an elegant seller this year. Check out our WEB site www.dreamweavingdesigns.com.
